Argus Fire has become the first fire protection provider to gain a top-level accreditation for building information modelling (BIM).
The Stourbridge-based company, a specialist in the design, installation and servicing of fire protection, detection and suppression systems, has been awarded Certified Level 2 Professional BIM status in recognition of its efficiency in the construction design process.
BIM is revolutionising the construction industry with a collaborative way of working using digital models that provides a more efficient design and build process.
Argus Fire achieved its new Professional status after two design engineers passed a stringent BIM training course to become Certified Professionals.
The new Professional level BIM training course was run by the BRE Academy, which has been raising the skills of construction companies to meet the Government’s deadline this month for BIM Level 2 compliance for public sector projects.
As an industry leader, Argus Fire has been producing 3D modelling solutions for large office projects as a Level 2 Accredited BIM company for the past three years.
Jon Hall, 3D Coordination Manager, and Jon Danckert, 3D Coordination and Design Engineer, both demonstrated their proficiency in project and task information management according to the BS1192 standard before being awarded their certificates by BRE Global, the BRE Group’s independent certification body.
Jon Hall, who has a Master’s degree in Plastics and Polymer Engineering Technology from Loughborough University, has been overseeing 3D design coordination as the use of BIM has developed at Argus Fire for more than 13 years.
John Danckert, who has more than eight years of experience in design engineering within the construction industry, uses 3D CAD and Autodesk technology as a lead designer on major contracts for schools, warehouses, shopping centres and offices.
Dale Kinnersley, Associate Technical Director, said: “We are very proud to be fully BIM-ready and look forward to using our certification to support the BIM journeys of our partners and clients in delivering accurate and efficient construction services.”
He added: “Our new status sets us apart from other sprinkler companies who we believe are at least 12 months behind us.”
