As part of its continued aim to raise awareness around fire door safety and robust specification, leading manufacturer and solution provider of security and access solutions dormakaba, has updated its Door Hardware on Fire Safety CPD.
In line with the Fire Door Safety Week campaign led by the British Woodworking Federation, dormakaba is promoting the importance of passive fire protection, to ensure that everyone, from manufacturers to building occupants, is aware of the critical role of fire door hardware – not just the door leaf, in saving lives and protecting property.
As such, dormakaba has created a RIBA-approved animated CPD on ‘Door Hardware on Fire Safety’ that is available to watch on demand on its website. The CPD provides an overview of the legislative requirements of hardware for fire doors, including CE marking, certification and regulations. On completion, all participants are awarded with a CPD certificate to earn RIBA points.
Graham Hulland, Product Marketing Manager at dormakaba says, ‘As lifesaving pieces of equipment, it is crucial that everybody takes responsibility for the correct specification, installation and maintenance of fire doors in any building type or sector. Fire doors that have been incorrectly installed or are showing signs of wear and tear can have devastating consequences, and we all have an obligation to avoid those risks.
‘We have created this CPD to help raise awareness on fire door compliance and understand what a fully working fire door should look like, down to the handles, locks and door closers.’
Launched in 2013 in response to a legacy of fire door neglect, Fire Door Safety Week is a mass awareness campaign designed to increase public understanding of the role that fire doors play in protecting life and property.
