To safeguard workers who currently find themselves on the front line, DuPont is carrying out web-based training in relation to its personal protective equipment (PPE). This will describe each of the key steps when ‘donning and doffing’ PPE, in order to prevent exposure to potential sources of contamination.
COVID-19 has dramatically changed the world around us – with the pandemic having an unprecedented impact on healthcare systems, as well as industrial processing and production operations. Nevertheless, there are many manufacturing sites that need to keep running, so that the supply of essential items can be maintained (such as food, pharmaceuticals, etc.).
Held at 1100hrs CET on April 27th, DuPont’s latest training session is predominantly aimed at wearers – providing them with all the information they need to avoid cross-contamination, especially when doffing a protective coverall. It will also be of great value to channel partners.

The company has always provided training of this kind for those using its protective clothing, however, the current situation makes awareness about correct processes even more imperative. Studies have shown that most contamination occurs when protective garments are incorrectly removed (with there being a risk of cross-contamination from the surface of the
garment to the skin/hair of the wearer).
“At DuPont we are providing superior quality PPE via our popular Tyvek® brand of disposable coveralls,” explains Albrecht Gerland, Product Manager for DuPont Personal Protection in Europe. “Appropriate procedures need to be followed when using these garments. It is therefore important that wearers understand each critical step when putting-on or removing them – making proper training paramount. This is especially true in situations
where there wasn’t already a protocol in place, or where a new protocol needs to be quickly established.”
Further training sessions will be organised by DuPont in the near future.
