Group Editor appointed to the MDM Team
The Directors of MDM Publishing Ltd are pleased to announce the appointment of Duncan White to the role of Group Editor.
When announcing the appointment Dave Staddon, Director of MDM Publishing Ltd said, ‘As publishers of International Fire Fighter; International Fire Protection; Asia Pacific Fire; and Gulf Fire magazines I am delighted to announce the appointment of Duncan White to the role of Group Editor.
Duncan’s excellent organisational ability, understanding of the roles and responsibilities with the fire and rescue sector, and knowledge of the global fire and rescue market will make him a huge asset to the company. He will be responsible for supporting our editorial staff and providing advice and guidance in relation to the editorial content of all our print and electronic titles.’
Duncan joins the team following almost thirty years as a professional firefighter within the UK. He attained the rank of Station Manager and oversaw the implementation of the Government’s New Dimension Project following the atrocities on 9/11. Latterly responsible for project management he oversaw the fire and rescue service responsibilities to the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay; Royal Visits and major outdoor events including the Glastonbury Music Festival.
During his career he was involved with many high profile and national incidents including the Buncefield Oil Terminal explosion in 2005; the Gloucester Floods in 2007 and the major incident following the M5 Motorway Collision in 2011.
Duncan has been involved within the wider fire and rescue service arena for many years and was responsible for representing the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund (now The Firefighters Charity) at the annual fire conference. He undertook this role for 10 years and was rewarded with an honour from the Charity in 2003.
In 2003 Duncan founded the National Disabled Fire Association, a charity set up to champion the social model of disability and to work with those living with and affected by disability. In 2009 he was awarded the National Equality and Diversity Team Leadership Award from Sadiq Khan, Minister for Fire, in recognition of his services to disability with UK fire and rescue services.
Duncan is proud to be a member of the Worshipful Company of Firefighters; the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health; and honoured to be a Freeman of the City of London.
Speaking on his appointment Duncan said, ‘I am grateful for the opportunity to work with Dave, Mark and the team at MDM and look forward to expanding their current brands into new areas over the coming months.’
