The Directors and team of MDM Publishing have a real reason to celebrate with this issue of International Fire Protection as it marks the 21st birthday of the magazine with the 84th edition of the magazine. This is a testament to all the hard work put in by the whole team and their ability to work with the industry to provide a publication that meets the needs of readers and advertisers.

It seems hard to believe that another year has passed and what a year it has been for us all. The challenges we have all faced from COVID-19 have made 2020 a year we will look back on with interest, however as we prepare to welcome 2021 we are already seeing the first shoots of recovery with vaccinations beginning across the world. Here’s to 2021 and the tentative steps towards a ‘return to normal’ and meeting with friends and colleagues again at trade shows around the world.

The readership of International Fire Protection continues to grow issue by issue, and the feedback we receive from both our readership and advertisers is amazing. Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement!

This latest issue boasts educational and informative articles from the industry’s best and most renowned authors.

The IFP Comment is written by Dennis Davis, Technical Director at the Fire Industry Federation who presents his article ‘Competence vital to Building Fire Safety’ which discusses the Federation’s recently published Approved Code of Practice for Fire Risk Assessors Competency will play a key role in public reassurance of fire safety in high risk buildings. This nicely leads the way for a further fifteen articles, company, and product profiles, two case studies and news from across the globe.

Check out Peter Lafreniere’s article titled ‘A quick resource guide: Understanding fire alarm system components’, Graeme Leonard explores sprinkler systems in his feature ‘Safe and Sound: Key steps to a high-quality sprinkler system installation’ and Rob Neale presents, ‘Rethinking fire flow’.

Finally, although we will not be getting together face to face in Dubai in early January for Intersec, this does not mean we aren’t around for a chat. If you want to check in with any of the MDM Team just drop us an email and we can arrange a Zoom meeting – let’s all keep talking.

Happy reading and please continue to provide us with your comments and suggestions for new features.

Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season from the whole team at MDM Publishing.
