Marioff has received two new VdS type approvals for its HI-FOG® Modular Sprinkler Pump Unit for the protection of automotive paint shops and flammable liquid storage areas. Marioff, which operates in Finland as Marioff Corporation Oy, is a leading developer of water mist fire protection technology and supplier of system solutions worldwide under its innovative HI-FOG brand, and is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp.
The new VdS type approval for the protection of automotive paint shops covers the entire automotive spray paint line, including paint storage areas and paint mixing rooms. A single HI-FOG electrical pump unit can protect multiple fire hazards in an automotive factory.
“We can now deliver an optimized system design to meet the special requirements of automotive customers with one dedicated, type-approved HI-FOG solution,” said Markku Vuorisalo, head of business development, Marioff.
The development program for the automotive segment also led to a more generic VdS type-approved HI-FOG solution for the protection of flammable liquid storage areas up to 2,000 cubic meters. This new type approval underscores the robust functionality of the HI-FOG product family.
Marioff’s HI-FOG water mist system uses significantly less water than traditional sprinkler systems. HI-FOG uses a pure water mist, which is entirely harmless to people and the environment, as its suppression agent. Spaces do not need to be evacuated or closed off for the system to be activated, and they can also be entered while the system is discharging without posing any risk to human life or affecting fire-fighting efficiency.
