New Conventional Panel Technology from Tyco
Tyco Fire Protection Products has introduced its latest innovation in fire detection, now available for the UK, Spanish and Italian markets. The FireClass J400 Series of conventional fire detection panels are fully EN54 CPR approved and designed to provide a cost-effective solution for small and medium-sized applications, combining proven technology with intuitive ease of use and simplified programming.
Based on an established technology platform with over 10,000 successful installations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and South America, the J400 Series provides an ‘out of the box’ solution for system installers and end users. Featuring easy-to-use configuration software, Tyco has developed the range with improved capability beyond simple conventional systems. In addition to the sounder circuit and fire and output relays, panels include alarm repeater outputs for each zone, power loss and dialler output, and a programmable open collector output. Enhanced functionality for day/night mode, single-zone programmable pre-alarm and investigation time, and alarm verification features are also available within the range.
The J400 Series features both the J408 and J424 panels depending on application needs and system requirements. J408 panels are available in three versions with two, four or eight zones suitable supporting up to 256 detectors for smaller installations. The J424 panel features a full metal enclosure and offers eight-zone capability and can also be expanded to 16 or 24 zones via expansion boards, supporting up to 512 detectors.
Both the J408 eight-zone and J424 panel versions can be connected up to four repeaters, with an optional LCD display mounted on J424 panels or the repeaters. All panels in the J400 Series can be fitted with an extinguishing module to provide a cost-effective solution for extinguishing systems, with the J424 panel able to accommodate two modules. For enhanced security, both the J408 and J424 panels are protected by a lockable frontplate which allows access to authorised personnel only.
The J400 range is available with optional Windows™ software to allow full systems management of events memory and file all programmable functions provided by the control panel. This software also contains a configuration wizard to provide open compatibility with all conventional detectors and callpoints in the market, making retrofit projects easier.
Daxa Patel, director of marketing, global fire detection at Tyco Fire Protection Products comments: “Our FireClass range has been successful since its launch and we’re continually looking for opportunities to support our customers with enhanced technology and new innovations. Following the recent introduction of the new addressable FC501 panels, we believe that the requirement for a more expensive conventional panel has been replaced with this small addressable one. Because of this, we wanted to offer a product that is aimed squarely at the low cost market.
“With the J400 range, we provide a quality, approved, proven, reliable and fully functional panel for small systems where cost is paramount. Ideal locations include small retail outlets, offices and hotels. By offering the J400 product, FireClass can now cater for every type of installation, from single room shops, up to fully addressable networked systems. Our J400 Series provides robust and reliable technology with enhanced functionality, while remaining a cost-effective solution for end users. We’re pleased to build on our successful installations and offer this range to customers in new markets across a broad scope of applications.”
