High and inconstant abrupt output of energy, extreme sound levels during the extinguishing process, enormous pressure load on the system, limited options in installation – you will no longer have to struggle with these.
As a specialist in engineering and production of high-pressure gas cylinder valves and regulators for a wide range of applications, VTI Ventil Technik GmbH (based in Menden, Germany) developed and recently launched a new product in its business unit FIREcontrol.
Apart from four other product areas, this area focuses on fire suppression and extinguishing products for maximum protection of life and limb as well as buildings, vehicles, systems and other assets against damages caused by fire.
The newly introduced Constant Flow Regulator (CFR) comes with several features for use in stationary non-liquefied inert gas extinguishing systems.
Constant flow & outlet pressure
The CFR provides high protection for the pipework, as it provides a constant gas flow during the entire extinguishing process by reducing the nominal working pressure (cylinder pressure) of 200/300 bar to a constant flow pressure of 45/60 bar. Despite this, it does not have any losses in its flow capacity – it is capable of discharging 80-litre cylinders in less than 60 seconds. In doing so, it is additionally vibration free and extremely quiet.
Back pressure safe
There have been several reports of incidents with burst regulators as a result of these being accidentally pressurized by downstream units with the full cylinder pressure at their outlet port (which should usually only occur at the inlet port).
As part of VTI’s values, and true to its guiding philosophy ‘designed to last’, highest product quality, durability, performance and safety are at the centre of all actions. Since the regulator has to perform extreme pressure reductions, it has been put to several thorough and tough tests, not only in VTIs in-house laboratory during development but also during the following VdS and UL approval processes.
Moreover, the VTI CFR has been designed especially with its so-called back pressure safety feature, meaning that it withstands the full inlet pressure also at the outlet port, in order to prevent such devastating impacts as mentioned above. Thus it also complies with the additional pressure resistance tests at the outlet port as per latest VdS testing specification.
Wide system compatibility and flexible installation
What’s remarkably convenient is that, due to its compatibility and easy fit, there’s no need for you to change already existing systems – it even allows effortless upgrading from existing 200 to 300 bar high-pressure systems. Also, the regulator can be installed directly between the cylinder valve and the check valve, without any additional components. Besides its compact dimensions (length 100mm, height 80mm, diameter 52mm) and light weight of only approx. 1.2kg, the CFR has been constructed with a 360° rotatable outlet connection, enabling an individual and precise installation.
No need to hesitate
The Constant Flow Regulator is certified by VdS and UL and serial production is already in full swing. Convince yourself first-hand by getting your CFR sample now!
